Cookie Notice

1. What Are Cookies
1.1 Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to improve their functionality, and to provide information to website operators.
1.2 In addition to cookies, we may use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, and pixel tags. References to “cookies” in this notice include these similar technologies unless the context requires otherwise.
2. Why We Use Cookies
2.1 We use cookies for the following purposes:
2.1.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the operation of the HausTour platform, website, and related services (the “Service”). They enable core functionality such as authentication, session management, security protections (including CSRF tokens), load balancing, and remembering your cookie consent preferences. The Service cannot function properly without these cookies. They cannot be disabled.
2.1.2 Functional Cookies
These cookies allow the Service to remember your preferences and choices, such as language settings, theme preferences, recently used configurations, and interface customisations. They enhance your experience but are not essential for the Service to operate.
2.1.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Service by collecting information about pages visited, session duration, navigation paths, feature usage, error occurrences, and general interaction patterns. We use this data in aggregated or pseudonymised form to improve the Service, diagnose issues, and measure performance. Where required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before placing analytics cookies.
Cookie Inventory
The following table lists the cookies and similar technologies currently used by the Service. This list is updated periodically.

We do not currently use advertising, retargeting, or social-media tracking cookies.
3. Legal Basis
3.1 We rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Service as the legal basis for strictly necessary cookies. These cookies do not require your consent because they are essential for the provision of the Service you have requested.
3.2 For non-essential cookies (functional and analytics cookies), we rely on your consent where required by applicable law, including the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (nDSG), the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”), the UK GDPR, and the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) as implemented in applicable national law.
3.3 You may withdraw your consent at any time as described in Section 8. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
4. Types of Data Collected
4.1 Through cookies and similar technologies, we may collect the following types of data:
- (a) session identifiers and authentication tokens;
- (b) language and locale preferences;
- (c) theme and interface settings;
- (d) cookie consent preferences;
- (e) IP address (which may be truncated or anonymised for analytics);
- (f) browser type and version, operating system, device type, and screen resolution;
- (g) pages visited, features used, navigation paths, and timestamps;
- (h) referring and exit URLs;
- (i) session duration, click events, and scroll depth; and
- (j) error logs and performance metrics.
5. Third-Party Cookies
5.1 The only third-party cookies currently used by the Service are set by Stripe Inc. on pages where payment processing occurs. Stripe sets cookies (such as __stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) solely for fraud prevention purposes. These cookies are classified as strictly necessary for payment functionality. For more information, see Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
5.2 We do not currently use any analytics, advertising, retargeting, or social-media third-party cookies.
5.3 If we introduce additional third-party cookies in the future, this Cookie Notice and the Cookie Inventory table above will be updated accordingly, and consent will be obtained where required by applicable law.
6. Retention
6.1 The retention period for cookies varies depending on their purpose:
- (a) Session cookies are temporary and are deleted when you close your browser.
- (b) Persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period or until you delete them manually. Retention periods for persistent cookies used by the Service typically range from thirty (30) days to twelve (12) months, depending on their purpose.
6.2 We review the cookies we use periodically and remove those that are no longer necessary.
7. Consent Mechanism
7.1 When you visit our Service from a jurisdiction that requires cookie consent (including European Economic Area member states), a consent banner is displayed at the bottom of the page before any non-essential cookies are set.
7.2 The banner offers two choices:
- Accept all: all cookie categories listed above are enabled.
- Reject non-essential: only strictly necessary cookies are used. Functional and analytics cookies are not set.
7.3 Your preference is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser’s local storage for this site, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit.
7.4 Visitors from Switzerland are not shown the consent banner, as Swiss law does not require prior consent for the cookie categories currently in use. Swiss visitors may still manage cookies through their browser settings.
8. Withdrawing Consent
8.1 You can withdraw your cookie consent at any time by:
- Clearing your browser’s local storage or cookies for this domain, which will reset your preference;
- Using your browser’s cookie management settings to block or delete specific cookies; or
- Contacting us at legal@haustour.ch for assistance.
8.2 Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent given before withdrawal.
9. Managing Cookies via Browser Settings
9.1 You can also manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- (a) view the cookies stored on your device;
- (b) delete individual cookies or all cookies;
- (c) block cookies from specific websites or from all websites; and
- (d) configure alerts when cookies are set.
9.2 On mobile devices, you may also manage cookies and similar technologies through your device’s operating system settings.
9.3 Please note that disabling or deleting certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Service. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without impairing the core operation of the Service.
10. Changes
10.1 We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, our processing practices, or applicable law. The updated version will be posted with a new effective date.
10.2 Where changes are material, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you, for example by displaying a notice on the Service or by presenting the cookie consent banner again.
